Hi, it’s been a while. I’ve made some videos.

Daily trip was recorded on September 1st, on my way to and from work. I used duct tape to get my crappy digital camera to be still on the handlebars of my bike. The music used in the video is an old song, I made it in 2009 or 2010. I honestly can’t remember. Anyway, you can see the video at Vimeo or YouTube. Sleep Lapse I was recorded during the night to today. I set my Nikon D50 to take one picture every ten seconds, but sadly the battery died around three in the morning. The sounds were recorded with my Roland Edirol R-09 and then processed in FL Studio. Watch the video at Vimeo or YouTube, then download the music from SoundCloud.

Staring into strange re-arrangements

Staring Into Strange Eyes has been complete since March, and I’ve listened to it a few times since then. About a month ago I realized there were some minor clicks and cuts here and there in the tracks, nothing I think people will notice. But since I do, I have to fix them.

Plus I haven’t heard back from the girl with a photo I want to use for the artwork, so I need to contact her again. Also, I have better water recordings now, so I might change the old ones. So all in all, SISE won’t be released in a near future, but probably before the end of the year.

A Bleak Review

Last week I logged into MySpace, something I rarely do. I had one new mail to my amazement. It was from a guy who had reviewed Bleak.

Some exceprts:

The song sounds as lifeless and cold as it’s title suggests, but only in a good way. It starts with a strong, repeating and echoing note from what sounds like a bass guitar with no actual bass-frequencies audible.

A distorted radio-like sample in the end leads me to thinking that the artist was aiming for a post-apocalyptic (or such) soundscape, and in that he succeeded.

It manages to sound lifeless through it’s whole lenght, while still retaining some grasp to the listener with it’s repeating rhythms.

Release: Amendurå!

Not long ago I released a new EP, called Amendurå!, on Underljud.

It’s most likely going to be the only breakcore/jungle focused release I’ll do.

As I’ve previously mentioned, Håkan Lidbo was commissioned to create a vuvuzela track by Swedish Radio. And I thought it would sound like generic electronica, but it actually doesn’t. That said, I personally don’t think the track itself is exciting. It’s rather bland and it could’ve been any track if it weren’t for the new-found popularity of the vuvuzela.

It’s on!

Another project of mine is now in motion.

The basic idea is recomposing/decomposing a track of mine. It all started when Audio.Warfare mentioned a thing on Facebook, to which I replied, and I got a reply back, and I replied to that as well.

I recorded some sounds, made a track out of them, then a second person will use those sounds to make a track of his/herself, then a third person will make a track out of the second person’s sounds. And so on.

There’s no deadline for this project, and the release will be on physical media. But I have faith in it. I’m sure it’ll sound amazing.

Vuvuzela Electronica Generica

Swedish electronica composer/producer Håkan Lidbo has been asked by Swedish Radio P2 to create a vuvuzela song. It’s not surprising at all. I’m also assuming the song itself won’t be surprising or anything different from what he’s done before.

I have nothing personal against Håkan, but I find his music (while well-produced) boring. There are no surprises, it follows model 1A when it comes to electronica. The genre itself is somewhat generic, but who am I to judge?

It would’ve been much more interesting to hear someone different, and not affiliated with Ström, have a go at it. But SR and Håkan are holding their hands tightly, so… fat chance.

The future of change

As of today, my last three EP’s on Witte Dood have been released. And yesterday I found out that I’ll be playing a gig in the end of September, I’ve already started planning for it, and I think it’ll be great. Decided that I’m gonna do a sort of “megamix”, meaning a bunch of my own tracks which I will somehow edit and tweak while they’re being played.

In label-related news; deersound now has a sub-label called Underljud. The new addition will focus on the stuff that is too weird and/or random for deersound, but also handle the latters digital releases. The sub-label won’t just release mp3′s, though. It’ll be releases on any media (mainly CDR’s obviously) I see fit.

First out on Underljud will be an EP of amens. More info to come in a week or two.
